wanderning and wondering

Anon, did you look them up? Wandering (which only has one n by the way) and Wondering are totally different words. I wonder, if you wandered over to where the dictionary is kept, if you can't figure out the difference yourself.

A problem for non-native speakers is the pronunciation of these two words. The "o" of wonder is pronounced as in "love", money" and "Monday", corresponding, more or less, to the short "a" of most European languages, while the "a" of "wander" is pronounced like the short "o" in many words. This causes a lot of confusion.

Wandering is more of a physical state while wondering is more of a mental state too.

Wandering is not a physical STATE, it's an action. You move from place to place without a clear path. You wander around in the museum, looking at whatever exhibits interest you.

Wondering is ENTIRELY mental, not "more of a mental state." It's the process of thinking about something without a clear answer.

I'm sure a dictionary would provide better definitions.
