Of perception verbs related to sight, look at and see can be used with as.

1. I saw / looked at him as a genius.

How about watch? Can watch be used with as?

2.I've watched you as a colleague, nobody works harder than Sam Donaldson.

Is the sentence in 2 acceptable?
