okay- I understand it's correct to say, "I wish I were a princess" and not "I wish I was a princess" to express a present ongoing wish. what about this sentence
"I asked him if he were gay."
(i'm re-telling a story from last night, but sexual orientation is a present ongoing thing).
Does anyone know if this is correct?
