Was/were + adj ?

Hi there
I was reading a book. not matter what about it.
I saw a sentence, can't explain it used which means. Can you help me?

"I was anxious to see my new house."
Is there any mistake in this?

and also

"I was also excited to be getting a fresh start."

is this passive or something else?
