Screenwriting

Wasting time

Well, I had some 7,900 posts to read but more importantly, loads of stuff I should really get down to writing. Of the various *.docs I have, only one I can really start; it's fairly grim and downbeat so I opt for grim and downbeat music. I set the mood with the Death In Venice soundtrack (everything I have is a soundtrack) - great steaming chunks of Mahler's less dance-oriented output. Once in a suitable frame of mind to write bleakness and futility and despair, I shall begin. I have some sort of outline ready and a formatting template on MS Word.
But trawling through five months' worth of mwsm now I've got much easier access to it strikes me as a better use of the time. Besides, reading the writings of writers about writing might help to reinvigorate me.

So I start at February and (bliss! No Jai!) have now made it up to April. 3,446 down, 4,691still to go. Obviously I can ignore the numerous posts about low mortgage rates, but I'm ploughing through all the on-topic stuff. It's taking ages, but terrific stuff. I've just got to the Sin City / female empowerment / role model thread. But it's over three months ago and I really shouldn't resuscitate it.Maybe I should leave the 4,691 for another day and get writing, but I've no appropriate music to hand. I just finished the Looney Tunes: Back in Action album which is all happy-happy, and am just starting Mr Baseball, which is all happy-happy with a Japanese pop thing on the end called the Shabondama Boogie. But you can't knock an album with that organ motif you get over the tannoys at big sporting events, and a major Hollywood composer using electric guitars and slap bass as well as a full orchestra, all in the main titles.

Unfortunately none of the other *.docs in my writing folder are remotely happy-happy at all. (One is sort of vaguely happy-ish in parts, but it's a bit kinky and I'd need to do more research.) I should probably have thought more about which CDs to bring with me.

The bleak futility and your sense of despair comes from trying to use Word. :~)

[nq:1]Well, at least it's a whole soundtrack. Mine comes from listening to a single song... over and over.[/nq]
I've also had that happen to me for two movie stories. A single song in each case. Good "fuel" for story creation.
It's like getting an "in point" to the jist or mood of the story, and then... well, you just have to listen harder... more intently.

And then there's the ha

Writing: very little, really. Several ideas and outlines (one of which now scrapped as it's a bit similar to The Descent) but none of them going anywhere except, sadly, the one I started in an attempt to Start Writing Something, Anything, which is the only one even vaguely ready to start. There's
