Waste as an adverb: 'Goes waste'

Hi

I am aware that the proper use is "go to waste" but I would like to know how the following sentence sounds to your native ears. Here in Pakistan people often use "go waste". For example:

All his efforts went waste.

Your construction is logical....unfortunately the English language is not logical.....the grammar of German and the spelling of French have made it one of the most difficult languages to learn in the entire world.........this is my suggestion.........

All his efforts were in vain.....or ...All of his efforts were in vain......

No, it's not standard English to drop the 'to'.
