Wasn't or Weren't?

We had a lot of pies in the morning but by afternoon, there wasn't a lot to go around.

Do I use wasn't or weren't in this setence/

Thank you!

The usual collocation is "there weren't enough to go around."
I don't remember hearing your version. Perhaps it's regional.
