Wasn't or shouldn't?

Hello,

Could you correct these sentences please?

If it weren't /wasn't for the rain I would(/ could/ would have gone/ could have gone) go for a walk.

I need to prepare for my ten days' visit.

When should I use weren't and when wasn't?

Thanks
