A: Why is it a bad idea to go hiking in winter?

B: Becuase mountains absorb rain water, the soil gets washed away by the water, then becomes loose and gets slippery,which could cause an accident any moment.

Is this sentence correct?

I have been trying to explain the groups I work with why we can't climb the mountain these days,but I haven't found the correct words to explain it;if somebody understood the intended meaning of the sentence, PLEASE fell free to rewrite it !!
