Dear native speakers,I want to describe the experience about my first cooking.Can I say something like this?' The first time that I tried to cook was when I was eight years old. I tried to use a aluminum sacucepan to deep fry some chicken, and turnes out that saucepan had been burnt a hole in its bottom. 'Could some one helps me to find out the grammer mistakes about this one, and maybe something that could  improve this whole sentence.

Why wasn't it already in the trash can? Why would your mother have kept it? Of what earthly use is a pan with a hole in the bottom? I only ask because the reader won't believe you. By the way, I did something similar when I was that age. I tried to make myself a fried egg for breakfast while everybody was still asleep. I put about an inch of oil in a frying pan and turned the heat to high. It spattered and lit and turned into a column of fire that would have frightened Moses himself. Luckily, it went out when I turned the gas off.
