The reporter was thrown out of the press conference after the he started yelling at the rock singer.

Is "thrown" in the above interchangeable with "kicked?" Thanks.

In this context, "thrown out" means he was physcially escorted out of the conference by the security. Kicked out is essentially the same as "thrown out". There is a physical or violent connotation with both usages in this context. i.e. The driver was
thrown out of his car after colliding with another car from the on-coming traffic.
