'was supposed to' with future expressions

I was supposed to pick you up from school tomorrow, but I don't think I can because I'm sick.

1. Is the sentence above correct, ie. 'was supposed to' with 'tomorrow'?
2. Should I use 'didn't' and 'could' instead of 'don't' and 'can' in the given context? If both are possible, how are they different in meaning?

Please advise. Thank you.

Anonymous I was supposed to pick you up from school tomorrow, but I don't think I can because I'm sick. You don't need to change your sentence. It's perfect.

  • One use of "was/were supposed to" is for a changed plan (future or past).
  • I was supposed to call you (later) tonight but now that you're here, I'll just tell you personally about your father's state.
