Was postponed vs has been postponed

Dear all,

Please tell me which of the following sentences are correct. If both are incorrect, please correct them. Here the context is : The marriage hasn't taken place yet. It's going to take place in June 2021.

1) Tom's marriage has been postponed since the bridal party has difficulty in travelling.

2) Tom's marriage was postponed since the bridal party has difficulty in travelling.
