Was or were?

Dear all,
I want to know whether we should fill the following blank with 'was' or 'were'. Or are both ok?
All we could see, smell and hear firecrackers.

I would use 'were'. It's sort of a rearrangement of Firecrackers were all we could see, smell and hear.

It wouldn't sound too wrong to me with 'was', thought.

First of all: Both are okay!

Also, I forgot to mention- the 'and' should probably be 'or'. As written (with the 'and'), it means other things might have been seen, smelled or heard, but only the firecrackers for all three. They probably meant (exaggerating, of

I vote for "were". But note
The subject of discussion was firecrackers.
The number of the verb agrees with that of the subject, not of the predicate.
