It's been a long time since I heard or read the abbreviation 'gent'. Perhaps that''s because I live in Canada?

Hi again,
I'd say there are lots of gentlemen.

Actually, instead of the words 'gentlemen' and 'ladies', today I usually hear 'men' and 'women'.
