So I had an exam 2 days ago, my teacher gave it to us, because the same one we will have to pass in the end of secondary school, which is in a month. On the exam there was a sentence, which I had to complete with the words given: My friend (work) in Ireland last year.
So my first thought was "worked", cause for sure it can't be present perfect. But as I remember, verbs like wait, practice, and probably work, rather exist with -ing. So I decided to give was working. The question is - was I right? Or both of those options were correct?
