Was get VS was to get

I saw that the best thing I could do was get hold of a dictionary.

I saw that the best thing I could do was to get hold of a dictionary.

I don't know if both are grammatically correct.

Is there no difference between the two?

You have a modified pseudo-cleft with do. The to of the infinitive is optional in this case, but not wrong. Therefore, both are correct. Both mean the same thing.
