"...was elected mayor" or "was elected as mayor," "...which he called a menace" or "...which he called as a menace"?

Which of the following sentences are preferable?

• Pierre was elected mayor of our town.
• Pierre was elected as mayor of our town.

• He was not in favor of casino which he called a menace.
• He was not in favor of casino which he called as a menace.

I would accept both of these. I prefer the first.
Rommel• ... which he called a menace.• ... which he called as a menace.
'call as' is not acceptable.
