Was born/established/founded

Hi

The band called 'The Beatles' was born in the early sixties.
The Beatles were born in the early sixties.

Is the word 'born' appropriate for those sentences, or it would be better to use 'established' or 'founded'? Or maybe sb would have different sugestions?
