Was born: passive or adjective

I was born in India.
What is the grammatical form and function of "born" in the above made up sentence?
How do we decide whether it's a passive construction or an adjective?

Such an interesting question. I always thought of it as a passive voice but even as an adjective, it wouldn't be wrong in my opinion. Because, if I think about it, It will lead to the same meaning at the end of the day.

One test for an adjective is that it can have an adverb modifier.

So the underlined can be classified as adjectives:

I was completely overwhelmed by the size of the task.
I was utterly dismayed.
I was somewhat confused.

What adverb can fit your sentence?

Do the four tests to see if it's an adjective.

An adjective generally can be used

1) before a noun,
2) after a linking verb,
3) with the adverbs very, rather, more, or most, (sometimes with already), and
4) coordinated with another adj
