Was begun

Hi Everyone,

I've come across this phrase a couple of times in a book I'm reading at the moment. It's an English grammar book, which is why I'm asking the question.

My question relates to the following sentence:

' The action was begun at one time and then completed at another time.'

'...was begun?"

Seriously?

This sounds SO bad that I'm stunned to be reading it.

I'm hanging up my whiteboard marker if it's correct.

Thanks

O M G!

I can't believe this.

Mind you, I just looked it up within this forum and found a thread on the subject. I should've done that first before posting.

As for my marker?

Just kidding; that clearly WAS NOT a good proposition.

My new grammar book is sensational btw.
