Was alonely because no one at home

Can I say,

(i) John was bored of reading books, so he played with the ball in the living room. When he was playing, he broke the vase. At the same time, his mother came.

(ii) John was alonely because no one at home. He felt bored and took a ball to play. Suddenly, he broke the case. He was afraid and cleaned it instantly but it was too late.

(iii) One day, John's mother went out for buying somethings. She told him to behave and read until she back / came back.
