Want to replace "lest" in my sentences

Please help me to understand whether I am making correct sentences by replacing lest or not.
I. Don't intake stale food lest you should fall ill.

2. Don't poke your nose in others matters lest your reputation should suffer.

I cannot see 'intake' as a native choice at all, and 'staleness' does not necessarily mean inedibility (I frequently eat stale bread): Don't eat spoiled food.
