Want to know the difference between the following two sentences

How's it going? I have a question about the difference of two sentences.

1. This array is of type float.

.2 This array is type float.

it sounds like a bit programming, but i believe you know what i mean. I guess two sentences are the same meaning, but as you can see the first one added "of" between is and type, there must be different in meaning or somethig else i dont know. Please tell explain about the sentences above.

Many thanks!

The problem you are having is that the word "type" is eather a noun or a verb, and so in 2, you have either a verb following "is," or two nouns one after another. " By the way, I looked up the word float, and even though it isn't listed as an adjective, I believe it does work as an adjective when you say float decimal in a math class. " John

By the way, I looked up the word float, and even though it isn't listed as an adjective, I believe it does work as an adjective when you say float decimal in a math class. For that reason I imagine
