Wanna find a proper expression!

Could you teach me a proper expression that can be used in this situation??

today,

I used a stove (Or cooker?) In a kitchen area and turned off the heat, but there was heat left, but my friend asked me if it was turned off, and I said, "It's not been long since that turned off, that’s why it still has some heat.”

should I say,

that’s why It remains heated,

or it hasn’t cooled off yet ?

what do native speakers say in this situation?
