Wallet

I recently bought my mom an LV Sarah wallet that cost me an arm and a leg...Too bad no surgery can repair my bank account... Emotion: sad

Should I use can or could? Or are both acceptable?

Thanks!

Either can be justified, but I'd use can (the present) if the account is still low.
