walks funny

Hello,

Please, the following sentence is presented in a syntax book as grammatical.

I'm confused about the use of 'funny'.

It cannot be an adverb, so isn't it wrong?

"The roadrunner walks funny."

Thank you!

In that case it is used as an adverb. To me, the sentence is acceptable informally, but I would not classify it as correct in formal English.
