Walking/loitering/wandering along house

I was walking/loitering/wandering along your house yesterday and I thought I should stop by and meet come in to meet you, but I got a sudden call from my friend so I had to move past it.

Please correct my sentence.

I was walking past your house yesterday, and I thought I would stop by and see you, but I got a sudden call from my friend, so I didn't/couldn't.

So is it incorrect to say "I was walking along your house/building etc."?
