Walking dead

"...I do not know the value of these last writings that my

scribe and devoted friend Alphaeus has put on this scroll

but my Master's message was clear so I wrote what I

have carried in my heart for 65 years. I held back

nothing. I have not hidden my sin, which was often

horrible, and I did not diminish the miracle of the new

life my Master gave me. More even than Lazarus I was a dead man; not in body but worse. My soul and my

heart had died. My blood did not carry life, as we Jews

have always believed, but cold hatred as toxic as any

serpent's venom. I was walking dead and every part of me was unclean..."

Q1) Is "dead" used as a predicative adjunct referring to "I" ? I think it is, because "dead" is used to express the state of "I".

Q2) Is the sentence "I was walking dead" grammatically correct? and natural? I think it is.
