As the Duke and the emissary walk leave the painting behind, the Duke points out other notable artworks in his collection.

That is OK in isolation. The sentence, though, as 5jj says, is patently impossible. Perhaps this was meant:

As the Duke and the emissary walk, leaving the painting behind, the Duke points out other notable artworks in his collection.
