Context: She's a girl of few words and I tried to talk to her but she walked away/off right in the middle of conversation.

Either one will do. This is one of those cases where there is not much difference when a different particle is added to a verb to make a phrasal verb.

walk away ~ walk off
walk around ~ walk about
run away ~ run of
