Vocabulary

wake

Hi,
In WordNet dictionary, wake is defined as "be awake, be alert, be there"
What does this definition mean? Could you please give an example for that?

Thanks!

I don't agree with that definition of 'wake'.

The basic idea is 'come out of a state of sleep'.
eg Tom wakes at 7am every day..

Or 'rouse from a state of sleep'.
eg Tom wakes his wife at 8am every day.
