Waits/Waiting

Why does "waits" can be used when I speaking in present progressive?

for example: "He waits for you (right now)"

It should not normally be so used. It might appear in a book as a rather dramatic variation; this can happen with other verbs, too, but the use is usually inappropriate in standard situations.
