Wait on a flight or wait for a flight

Hi,

I am not sure what is the verb phrase to use when I am sitting in the waiting room waiting for my flight. should I say,i am waiting on a flight." or should i say," i am waiting a flight." or better to say," i am waiting for a flight."?

will the sentence be misleading and make people think I was waiting for a flight to arrive that my friends are taking?

thanks,

" "I am waiting for a flight" does sound ambiguous -- you might be waiting for someone to arrive. " "Waiting on" with the meaning of "waiting for" is used in some places, but I wouldn't use it that way. )

You can't use "I am waiting a flight." "Waiting on" with the meaning of "waiting for" is used in some places, but I wouldn't use it that way. (Because if you say "I am waiting on John," it sounds to me as if you are a waiter in a restaurant and John
