'Wait (for) another year'

I saw 'Wait another year.' but 'Wait for another year.' is correct, isn't it? Or 'for' is optional and they mean the same?

Thank you so much in advance.

Hans51 'for' is optional and they mean the same? Yes. With the verb wait followed by the time period of the wait, for is optional.
