Volume goes up by 5

How would you explain this for my tv?The volume on my tv only goes up by increments of 5. With every push of the button the volume goes up by 5 points. 5,10,15,20...100. Thanks

I don't know of anyone who would ask " can you turn the TV up by 5?". I am not trying to make fun of you. But sound is organized noise which is described by db (decibel). The numbers on the older tv screen and the graphic bars on the new ones are just a visual indicator. No one cares if the indicator goes up by 5 or go down by 10. If the volume is too loud, press the volume down key until it is comfortable to your listening, or turn it up. I don't see any real relevance.

I'm not say I would ask someone to turn it up by saying what I've written. I would just like to know how one would explain what I see when I press the volume key which only goes up by 5 point increments. Every time I press the key the number goes from 5 to 10 to 15 to 20 etc instead of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10....
all I want is to know how a native speaker would explain that.

I love that question. No, I wasn't not born with an American tongue if that is your question. But I have been educated in the US, studying engineering and this language for over 25 years. For this foreigner, I say " cay you turn down the TV a little?"
All the TV remotes I know generate an infrared beam containing the coded frequencies (relative to the functions) which the TV received when pressed. When the IR beam stops, the volume movement stops instantaneously, not by how many increments. That why I commented as I did. No one would say something like that.
