voice over

-I am a voice actor, and today I have to ___ an animation series.

What is the verb used to refer to the act of recording the voice of a voice actor, which voice should synchronise with movements of the characters? I know DUB, but it doesn't fit.

Thank you. OJ.

The verb "voice" will work, but check whether you mean "voice an animation series" or "voice a character in an animation series".

Why not?

record, dub, do a voice-over of, tape

I tend to think of "dub" as meaning to voice or replace another human actor's part.

Sure, but this doesn't tell us how commonly the word is used in this specific situation. Do voice actors commonly refer to "dubbing" animated characters' voices? (The original voice, that is, not a version in another language.)

No. I assumed not originally, but I am not certain.

Google has tons of hits on "voice-over", so I imagine that's the most popular phrase for this. It seems to me, though, that it wasn't used so often as a verb, but more often in a phrase like "to do a voice-over". There are also hits on "dub" for the meaning we're talking about, but not nearly as many. As expected, most of them had to do with language translation.
