Dear Users,

Do you ever use the word stiver? Or the expression: it's not worth a stiver? It's today's word of the day from Dictionary.com. The website provides examples, but their citations are from really old sources (1853 and 1902)

More often than not I find out that these "word of the day" words are quite rare and perhaps somewhat... old-fashioned?

This is the first time I've ever heard of it. I don't intend to add it my vocabulary. It's definitely rare and obsolete.
