Vocabulary question no. 73: intimidated --> synonyms?

Dear All,

Could you please help me find a synonym for the word intimidated that would fit in the following context?

Dear XYZ,

Thank you for your today's in-meeting participation and insights. I hope that other participants' laughter didn't make you feel intimidated and you will keep up the good work in the future.

I'm not very good at "sensing" the difference between synonyms because oftentimes the difference seems to be blurry. Here are some I've found in the dicitonary:

- blanched (it sounds quite informal to me)
- aghast (sounds a bit overly formal and I don't know if it acually conveys the same meaning...)
- appalled (same story here... it also sounds stronger)
- dismayed

and lots of others...

Thanks

  • You could also try 'other participants' laughter didn't daunt you'.
