Hello, I have a question related to vocabulary in the following sentences.
If you answer my questions, I thank you for answering.
The woman in the picture is standing in a vividly red room and is placing fruit in a bowl. She seems to be carrying on her work in silence. As you watch the woman working dutifully at her task in this red room, your anger melts away instead of getting worse.
In the sentence above, can I use 'carrying on with work' instead of 'carrying on her work'? Are the two words the same?
Please reply.
"Carrying on her work in silence" means she is silently completing her work. "Carrying on with work in silence" to me implies that despite some outside distraction or preoccupation, she completes her work in silence. The first sentence also needs some adjustment— The woman stands in a room painted vivid red and places fruit in a bowl.
