Hello everyone,

Is the word "safety" used correctly in the following sentence?

The boat couldn't have had time to escape to safety before it was destroyed by the wind and waves.

Regards,

JA

I wouldn't say that this is actually wrong, but I find the idea of a boat "escaping to safety" from a storm just slightly unusual. I would expect something more along the lines of "didn't have time to find shelter", or something like that.
