Is always "renowned" interchangeable with "famous" in all contexts?

Eg a. He's renowned.

Eg b. He's famous.

Joseph A Is always "renowned" always interchangeable with "famous" in all contexts? There are very, very few cases of "always" in English grammar and usage. Even so, "renowned" and "famous" do seem very much to be interchangeable.
