Hello everyone,

A. If there is some dust on someone's shoulder and you try to remove it with patting (hitting with palm), is it okay to say the following?

Eg a. I patted your shoulder because I wanted to remove the dust off your shoulder.

Eg b. I wanted to put away the dust from your shoulder. Therefore, I hit your shoulder with my palm.

B. If you have better and commoner alternatives, could you please tell me?

All those sentences seem to me too wordy and too detailed.

While I brush your shoulder with my hand, I'd just casually say eg 'You've got something on your shoulder'.


I hope you realize that this would usually be done only to someone you have an informal relationship with.
