Is noun-by-noun correct in the following sentence?
The three articles in English are a, an and the. The learner has to decide noun-by-noun which on of the articles to use.
if not, please correct it to me
but I think one by one should have been used instead of it.

Noun-by-noun is understandable, but not very natural in a set of instructions.
