Vocabulary

Hi,
I want to improve my vocabulary.I know that reading books is the best solution, and I do read lots of books, but the problem is that I'm a bit lazy,Emotion: embarrassedand I dont make any efforts to open the dictionary and look for the meaning of the words, therefore, I'm never able to learn new words.
I'd like you all to please suggest me some simple way .
Thanks .[F]

Constatntly using a dictionary can certainly make casual reading unenjoyable. I suggest reading with a pencil in hand and puting a check-mark in the margin if there is a word you cannot guess the meaning of by using the context. After a bit, stop reading for a while and look up those words.

  • Another hint.
  • When you look up a word in the dictionary, be sure to put a little check by it.

Hi Soeleen

There is no short cut if you want to improve your vocabulary. As Philip said, you have to use the dictionary often if you want a wide vocabulary. If after checking, you forget the meaning of the word, check again.

Learn to refer to the dictionary more often and I think you'll soon find that it is indispensable to a wider vocabulary.

Best wishes.
