Vocabulary

vocabularies in a small paragraph!

When farmers in Nigeria found their calves contnually going missing. Thanks to a local menace, they suspected it was a python. Those suspicions rose even further when a bulging python appeared, looking as if it had livestock stored beneath the surface.Typically,a python will eat a meal many times larger than itself, stretching its stomach to fit the meal and then declining to move for day.

My questions is:
1what is  a local menace? a particular titled person?
2suspicios rose
3what is even further mean there in the sentence?
4what is bulding mean?
5declining to? means reject to?

Thank you and have a happy new year!

The second questions I did get it very clear. suspicious rose = become suspicious??
rose is slang or what?
And can you give me more examples for it?

About the last questions

It's the past tense of 'rise': rise, rose, risen.

It is facetiously formal.
