Vocab question no. 9 - in the field of

Dear All,

I'm trying to broaden my vocabulary and looking for a good word which could substitute in the field of in the following sentence as it sounds somewhat awkward to me...

Since it's foundation, for 25 years the company has been engaged in design(ing) and survey(ing) in the field of infrastructure.

Do you think we could simply use of after survey(ing) ?

Since it's foundation, for 25 years the company has been engaged in design(ing) and survey(ing) in the field of infrastructure. How about being less wordy? eg Since its foundation, for 25 years the company has been engaged in designing and surveying infrastructure.

Thank you Clive.

What do you think of this sentence (which is based on yours basically) :

Since its foundation 25 years ago, the company has been engaged in designing and surveying infrastructure and urban transportation.

That's fine.

Or how about this?
Since its foundation 25 years ago, the company has been designing and surveying infrastructure and urban transportation.

Dear Clive,

Are you sure we can use since and ago together in one sentence? As far as I know they're not a good match. What do you think?

It seems to me that that was questioned before, and discussed in some other thread. You could search for it.

As a native speaker from Britain and Canada, I see nothing wrong or unusual about 'since 10 years ago'.
It's just like saying 'since 2003'.
