VOCAB for years at school

Hello, I would like to know the correct British use of school years.
Should I say "she is in First Year at school"? Is the word "Grade" also possible in British English? Is the preposition "in" the right one? Could you please offer me more possibilities to express this?
Thanks in advance and sorry for not logging in. I couldn't do it!
