Here is the whole sentence:
The cost of software has gone up a great deal recently.

I wrote: There has been A SHARP RISE IN THE PRICE of software recently.

The correct answer was:
There has been A SHARP INCREASE IN THE PRICE of software recently.
I got doubtful whether or not my version was right and that's why I posted it here. So,
