I'd say that the visual arts, quite simply, are any art that you can see. That would include drawing, painting, sculpture, photography and so on

The fine arts are those that are done only to be appreciated as art. In other words, I would exclude furniture, wallpaper, pottery (for use in the home), artistic advertisements and so on

What do you mean by this? does it mean something that is already considered as an 'art'? more specifically paintings?

I think I was trying to say that some art - especially anything that we use at home - is what I would call practical art. Or maybe 'design'. It is done so that the object has a purpose, as well as looking good
